Cookie Policy.
This Cookie Policy explains how Obiter Technologies Ltd(“Obiter”, “we”, “us”, “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on our website and application.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember your preferences and understand how you interact with it. Cookies can be “session” cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or “persistent” cookies (remain until they expire or you delete them).
2. Cookies We Use
2.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential for the Service to function. You cannot opt out of these.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| session_token | Keeps you logged in | Session |
| obiter_theme | Remembers your theme preference (dark/light) | 1 year |
| stripe_session | Payment processing during checkout | Session |
| obiter_cookie_consent | Stores your cookie preferences | 1 year |
| obiter-vid | Analytics (optional) — a random visitor id so repeat visits can be counted. Not linked to your name. | 1 year |
| ph_* (PostHog) | Analytics (optional) — set by PostHog, our product-analytics processor, to group your actions into a session | Up to 1 year |
2.2 Usage Analytics (Opt-in)
If you select “Accept All” on the cookie banner, we record first-party usage analytics (such as which pages you visit and how long you spend on features) against your Obiter account so we can improve the Service. This is recorded on our own servers and also sent to PostHog, a product-analytics service that acts as our processor and hosts the data in the European Union. PostHog sets its own cookies, and we set a first-party visitor cookie (obiter-vid) so that repeat visits can be counted. We have configured PostHog to discard your IP address and not to record your screen. We do not use advertising cookies. If you select “Essential Only”, none of this is set and PostHog is never loaded. You can change your choice at any time, and your preference is remembered by the obiter_cookie_consent cookie above.
3. Third-Party Cookies
We use Stripe for payment processing. Stripe may set its own cookies during the checkout process. Please see Stripe's Privacy Policy for details. We also use PostHog for product analytics, which sets its own cookies, but only if you have chosen “Accept All”. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not allow third parties to track you across other websites.
4. Managing Cookies
You can manage cookies in several ways:
- Cookie banner: When you first visit Obiter, you can accept or decline analytics cookies
- Browser settings: Most browsers let you view, manage, and delete cookies in their settings
- Device settings: Mobile devices also have cookie management in their settings
Disabling strictly necessary cookies may prevent parts of Obiter from working correctly.
5. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
